did my 2nd field work @ Bugis for my sociology of tourism project today..met my project mates @ bugis junction & we had lunch @ e V8 cafe..think e western food there is nt bad..the sidedish salad is different frm those we usually haf..coz it's wif fresh apple cubes which r veri sweet..& e price of e set lunches r considered pretty reasonable. ok anyway after lunch, we started doing our interviews with shopkeepers in bugis junction as well as tourists in bugis village. in e midst of us looking for tourists to interview, we spotted 2 ladies who look Japanese..so we said dat we muz talk to them coz most of e tourists we interviewed r Caucasians. as e Japanese ladies were approaching, we then thought of wat if they didnt understand english..& true enuf..they cld only understand a little english..so it's like we were struggling to get our qns to them..along e way, i tried using e jap words i've learned to get e msg thru to them..but failed pretty badly haha..coz wat i learnt cld hardly be used in tis context. but anyway we did manage to get some responses frm them thru simple eng & some actions..haha..wah tis encounter really made me realise dat watashi wa nihongo ga amari joozu ja alimasan (i'm pretty bad at jap) haha..though my group mates said i was of some help haha. anyway tis project is due next mon & we haven started on e essay yet but we haf already split e job to start on various parts of e essay then will put them together & do e refining on sat..do hope we can complete it on sat.
